So, that was a crazy episode last night, eh? A mole man who has somehow been cooked up in a backroom home lab kit by randomly mixing scorpion and mole dna with a human embryo. Interesting plot device, but not anywhere near accurate. We even put together another film for you to share in all we learned last night. Have a look below and let us know what you think!

Recap of last night’s Fringe
Friday, September 25th, 2009Fringe Episode 2 Live Blog: Following the mole man
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009Join us here Thursday at 9pm EST, as we’re once again joined by Michael Gilkey from NCRM to live blog the second episode of this season’s Fringe.
Coming up on Fringe this week (or… Monday’s spoilers)
Monday, September 21st, 2009We got up this morning hoping to find some Fringe spoilers, and were excited to see that Fox is now supplying them to us – without intermediaries. Nice. At least we know they’re probably reliable, seeing as how they’re the ones airing the episode, right?
According to their own preview video, Agent Dunham is up and out of the hospital – this time, trying to solve a series of missing persons cases with the help of the intrepid Bishop Jr. Until (of course) something goes horribly wrong. In this particular instance, Dunham is attacked by the serial killer who (stay with me here) is a mole man. Yes. A mole man.
So what do you think? Is this just a fun kickback to the 1950s-era drive-thru’s? Or do you have some thoughts as to how such a mole man would develop/evolve/mutate? We’d love to hear about ‘em… because we’ve just been sitting here giggling at the mole man motif all morning. Let us know your theory here in the comments below, shoot us an email or tweet us what you think!
Video wrap-up of last night’s season premiere of Fringe
Friday, September 18th, 2009Thanks for joining us last night on the live-blog of Fringe’s season premiere. We thought we’d put together a fun video highlighting some of the more dubious moments from the show. Let us know what you think, and if you have any other moments that rang a little false, we’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
Join us here in live-blogging the Fringe season premiere
Thursday, September 17th, 2009Please join us here at 9pm EST tonight as we live blog this season’s first Fringe episode with Michael Gilkey from Cleveland’s very own National Center for Regenerative Medicine. See you tonight!
Sneak peek at Thursday – and a notable passing
Monday, September 14th, 2009This Thursday, Fringe picks up again and it looks like the show’s writers have frontloaded this season with a lot of plot-changing developments. According to some early reports, one character might die, another (probably Dunham) ends up in the hospital, and there are even reports of a small-screen kiss. For many of us, we’ve been watching Dunham and Bishop grow closer over time… so maybe something finally happens on that front?
Join us on Thursday at 9pm EST for our live-blogging of the science behind Fringe. We may be watching alternative universes on this season’s premiere, but in this universe, we’ll be waiting for you to join us at the time above.
On a much sadder note, one of the most important men of the 20th Century, Dr. Norman Borlaug, died over the weekend. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the man who fed over a billion people. Dr. Borlaug was a pioneer in the field of biotechnology, and developed wheat and rice strains with much-improved yields that are still in use today. If you would like to leave your own condolences, we encourage you to join the biotech community in saying good-bye here.
Welcome to the NEW EleventhHourFacts.com!
Thursday, September 10th, 2009So, yes, it’s been a while since we last posted for Eleventh Hour… why? Well, it’s been cancelled. But when we heard from you just how much you enjoyed the live blogging – in addition to all the hits on our expert films and podcasts – we decided to think bigger…
We decided to follow your suggestions and pick up on shows other than Eleventh Hour that have dubious science involved. And so we start this network season by following Fringe every week starting with next week’s premiere.
That’s not all, either. We’re also asking you to keep your eyes out for interesting pop culture to cover. Did you see a movie with some dubious science? Or how about a tv show that needs to beef up its writers’ understanding of what DNA is? Either way, let us know … or become a contributor! Just click on the ‘contact’ link in the sidebar to the right.
We’re also on twitter and facebook, so please make sure to say ‘hi’, join our group, and let us know what you think. You can also keep track of the newest changes (and there will be changes) by signing up for our email updates in the box to the right. So, once again, please join us on the evening of September 17th, when we’ll be joined once again by NCRM’s Michael Gilkey for a live blogging session of the season premiere. See you then!
